Remodelling Process After MI

A posterior wall infarction in the intermediate heart, i.e. the wall of the left ventricle is only slightly supplied by the right coronary artery, which is occluded in the presented example. The posterior wall of the left ventricle is mainly supplied by branches of the circumflex artery. A posterior wall infarction of this extent would lead to a right-sided heart failure in the chronic course. A stronger blood supply to the left ventricles posterior wall by the right coronary artery would, in case of occlusion, have an effect on the left ventricular function and would lead to chronic heart failure.
