This NYHA stage is characterized by normal systolic function into high exercise ranges, where diastolic dysfunction develops. This results in the most common clinical symptom of this NYHA stage, exercise dyspnea. Radiography thus reveals a normally sized heart with a normal pattern of pulmonary vessels during rest.
